Swiss Turning

The Swiss machining services we provide at H&B Machine & Tool Co., Inc. are ideal for the production of precision high volume components with diameters up to 0.625". Swiss Machining is unique in its ability to accommodate parts with especially large length to diameter ratios. Typically, this type of part presents a machining challenge because the relatively small diameter results in excessive deflection at the cutting surface. In Swiss machining, this challenge is overcome by supporting the material with a guide bushing very near the cutting tool. By minimizing deflection we are able to hold tolerances as tight as ±0.0002".

Metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, and brass as well as plastics can be machined using Swiss turning methods. In addition to turning and machining, we provide precision grinding services and can facilitate any secondary heat treating, surface finishing, or coating processes through outside vendors. We can also create quick-turn prototypes and submit pre-production samples for approval before providing production runs in order to prove out designs and ensure parts meet all applicable quality standards. For parts larger than .0625 diameter conventional CNC turning is also available.

All lead times are quoted on a job by job basis and expedited service is available. Delivery is available in the local area and shipping can be provided for customers located outside of the region.
